Lay readers are in charge of the details of the service. Their ministry is to ensure the services proceed without complications and they assist in providing an atmosphere of reverence and holiness, for the priest and the congregation. A Lay reader is licensed by the Diocese and is able to officiate at scheduled services of Morning Prayer or Evening Prayer without the required presence of a Priest.
